Nezuko Kamado is Tanjiro Kamado's younger sister and one of the last remaining members of the Kamado family. Initially human, she was transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji. She is one of the main characters in Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Nezuko is a little girl with fair skin, prominent and large fangs, red pointed nails at the tips. Her hair is long, black and reaches her waist, becoming vermilion from her elbows, with a parting on the left. She has pale pink eyes, lighter at the edges of her irises, with long eyelashes, whose pupils split when she transforms.
She wears a light pink kimono with a hemp leaf pattern, a lighter lining, with a red and white checkered obi and an orange thread tied around her waist, with another green thread above it. On top, she wears a long dark brown haori that reaches to her knees, as well as pink zori sandals and white socks, wrapped by thick black stripes. Nezuko also wears a small pink ribbon on the left side of her head to prevent her hair from falling on her face, as well as the bamboo stick that Giyu Tomioka gave her, which is held by a red cord around her jaw.
When Nezuko takes her demon form during her fight with the Demon named Daki, she loses her bamboo stick and shoes, as well as the sleeves of her haori and kimono. She grows a small white horn on the right side of her head, and veins appear around her left eye, but her new interesting feature are the green and red leaves that cover her skin, running around her arms, legs and chest.
In her human form, her appearance is very similar, the only noticeable differences being her lack of demon features, her vermilion hair, and her pale pink eyes. Instead, she had entirely black hair, tied in three low buns, decorated with pink ribbons, and dark red eyes with pink iris borders.
She wore the same kimono, though without her haori, but with a large white sheet tied around her, where she used to wear her little brother, Rokuta Kamado, on her back.
Nezuko's original personality as a human was a caring girl, who thought of others before her as her older brother, Tanjiro, and was a responsible sister with her younger brothers and sisters.
As a demon, however, Nezuko seems to have forgotten many of her memories as a human, apart from those related to her family, and therefore does not have the same personality she had before her transformation. She is still very caring and protective of the humans she sees as members of her family, even though this is due to Sakonji Urokodaki's hypnotic practices during her two years sleep. Nezuko still possesses some of her human emotions, such as seeing her cry when she is sad and smile when she is happy, but she generally seems more detached than her human teammates, though calmer and less mischievous than most demons.
Since her transformation into a demon, Nezuko appears cheekier, and is not afraid to fight; she fiercely protects her brother and his allies. She has also developed a strong will, as can be seen by her refusal to eat human flesh, even in cases of extreme injury or exposure to human blood, such as when she refuses Sanemi Shinazugawa when he almost forces her to bite him with his Marechi blood.
On rare occasions Nezuko tries to speak, however, she stutters a lot, which is probably due to her rarely removed bamboo stick, and the fact that she did not speak for several years after her transformation. However, after developing a resistance to the sun, which allows her to go out and interact with others more often, her articulation improves and she can pronounce whole words if someone just said them, or if she hears them frequently repeated.
She grew up in a mountain with her brother Tanjiro, her mother and the rest of her siblings, as the first daughter of the Kamado family. It is assumed that she took care of her younger siblings, assisting her mother, as can be seen quickly before the death of her family. Unlike Tanjiro, who had to sell firewood in town, Nezuko often helped her family by staying close to home.
The family was somewhat poor, so Nezuko had to abstain from certain things such as new clothing to ensure that her siblings had enough food. She did not seem to see this as a burden, being happy to help her family.
FINAL SELECTION ARC
After a demon nearly kills his entire family, Nezuko is transformed into a demon by this one, Muzan Kibutsuji. At first, she is wild and attacks even her only remaining brother, Tanjiro. However, she comes to her senses and quickly jumps in front of him to protect him from Giyu Tomioka when the Pillar tries to hurt him.
After this short fight, she falls asleep and Giyu orders Tanjiro to find a man named Sakonji Urokodaki. Her brother takes her first to bury their dead family, then she hides in a cave, seeing the sunrise, and waits for her brother to find something to carry her so that they can travel during the day.
So, they go to Sakonji's house, but meet a demon, having just killed and eaten a family, on their way. Tanjiro attacks the demon, hitting him in the jaw with his axe, but his wounds heal quickly and he boasts of his generative abilities. Angry, the demon runs towards Tanjiro, but Nezuko cuts off his head in one blow, propelling his body to the side as he continues to attack. Tanjiro and Nezuko manage to repel the demon, hanging his head against a tree and throwing his body off the mountain. Sakonji suddenly appears and informs them that they cannot kill a demon with these methods.
Tanjiro hesitates to deliver the fatal blow, and the sun finally begins to rise, disintegrating the demon as Nezuko runs into the house for protection.
After a short rebuke and test of their strength, Nezuko and Tanjiro are taken by Sakonji, who thus leads Tanjiro to the Breath of Water.
Nezuko then sleeps for two years while Tanjiro spends training, without even waking up when he leaves for the Final Selection. Sakonji takes care of her during this time, until he comes back victorious from the selection, as his sister finally wakes up. She welcomes Tanjiro, embracing him and allowing him to free himself from his fears about her.
FIRST MISSION ARC
Nezuko accompanies Tanjiro on his first mission, where she comes out of her box to fight one of the doubles of the Swamp Demon. She falls asleep after they defeat the demon.
SKILLS / ABILITIES
Manipulation of her size: After being transformed into a demon, Nezuko could quickly change the size of her body. She can take the size of a small child to fit into a small box or basket to hide from the sun when she travels with Tanjiro and can also grow up to fight demons.
Restoration of power: An important trait of Nezuko as a demon is the ability to constantly restore her powers, without having to eat humans which is the norm for most demons. Instead, she regains her strength through sleep, often spending a lot of time in her box.
Power Growth: Nezuko can grow stronger and stronger without training or eating humans. This ability is observed even in the middle of a battle and with significant increases. A good example is during her duel with Susamaru where her foot was torn off by the demon's attack, but after regeneration she was able to face him in a match of kicking the ball and eventually surpassing him. Nezuko becomes considerably more powerful throughout history.
Overdeveloped strength: Without even being trained, Nezuko's natural physical strength allows her to fight demons easily, however, because she is untrained, she relies on simple blows to her enemies or overwhelms them with brute force instead. Her blows allow her to cut the heads off demons with ease, or to knock down a door. Her strength is extremely important for a demon that has never eaten humans, her strength being able to wait even for the Twelve Moons.
Overdeveloped Regeneration: Nezuko has an incredible regeneration that allows her to restore her limbs in seconds. The true nature of this ability is the solidification of her blood from the cut off parts of her body that she can manipulate as she wishes. Her regeneration power is shown during her duel with Daki, where she regenerates her severed limbs in an instant.
Transformation into a demon: When Nezuko is in a critical situation, she can transform herself into a state of "out of control", which appears as red and green leaves running over her body, veins sticking out and a horn sticking out of the right side of her forehead. This form increases Nezuko's ability to fight, at the cost of becoming more demonic, including the need to feed on human blood. For now, the only way to get her back to her normal form is to have someone (in her case, Tanjiro) sing a song to her. During the duel against Hantengu, Nezuko manages to control this form at her whim.
Resistance to the sun: During the battle against the Fourth Moon, Hantengu, Nezuko develops immunity to the sun, being now able to go out completely during the day without being burned to ashes like other demons.
Nezuko awakened it during her fight against the Lower Fifth Moon, Rui, after being trapped in his webs and fainted due to blood loss, then used it on Rui’s webs, she used it a second time to heal the wounds of Tanjiro and Tengen Uzui. Her power consists in igniting her own blood.
Nezuko can set her blood on fire, turning it into flames. She can control her flames to a lethal or non-lethal state according to her will. She can be seen using her blood to heal the wounds of others if necessary. However, these flames only affect demons and the powers of demons, like Rui's threads or Gyutaro's poison. Nezuko flames are also capable of change the black color of the Tanjiro katana to a blood red, like the way Yoriichi Tsugikuni would change his blade from black to red before fighting, increasing the strength of his blade against the demons, and allowing him to Tanjiro to perform the Fire God Dance more effectively.
Tanjiro is Nezuko's older brother and the last living member of his family. Thus, while Nezuko is normally calm and lovable, she becomes enraged and attacks any demon that hurts Tanjiro. Being the only survivors of their poor family, they are both very close, trusting each other, and have a strong brotherly love for each other. He is probably the only one who can quickly calm Nezuko down by calling her or singing her their mother's lullaby.
Zenitsu running after Nezuko
Zenitsu falls in love with Nezuko at first sight. According to the databook, she sees him as a "weird dandelion". Even though we rarely see them interact, Zenitsu treats Nezuko affectionately.
Despite his cowardice, Zenitsu had the courage to return to Natagumo Mountain when he realized that Tanjiro had taken Nezuko with him into the territory of the Spider Family, intending to protect her. During their recovery training, Zenitsu would tell her stories about Tanjiro and their missions while she was in her box, to which she would respond by simply moving the box, implying that she was happy to listen to him.
When Nezuko regains her humanity, she begins to remember her life as a demon, and in particular, a memory in which Zenitsu offers her flowers, proving that she sees him in a good light.
At first, Nezuko felt threatened by Yushiro's presence, sensing that he was a demon. However, after seeing that he had no bad intentions towards her or Tanjiro, she no longer saw him as a threat and stopped being vigilant around him.
Later, after their fight against the balloon demon and the arrow demon, she sees Yushiro as one of her little brothers, and caresses his head, despite her dismay.
